Eagles Park

It is also known as Jungle Park, main inhabitants of which are birds of prey. The park hosts 30-minute shows with eagles, parrots, and toucans. There is entertainment for extreme sports enthusiasts: a 800 meters long bobsleigh track, rope bridges, and rope tunnels.

The Dragon Tree

Another popular attraction of Tenerife and one of its symbols grows in the town of Icod de los Vinos. Its diameter reaches 10 meters, and its height is 20 meters. Dendrologists could not determine the exact age of the tree: it has no annual rings. Some claim the tree is 3000 years old while others say it is only 1500.

San Cristóbal de la Laguna

It is the cultural capital of the island. The city is registered in UNESCO World Heritage Site as there are many architectural monuments: La Laguna Cathedral, Real Santuario del Cristo de La Laguna, Santa Catalina Monastery, the oldest university in the Canaries, and the central square called Plaza del Adelantado.

20,000 sq. m of the park are divided into 8 thematic zones: the Guanche zone, the Canary Garden, the Rural zone, the Exotic Garden, the Historical Heritage, and some others. There is also a zone called El Teide with a 4.5 m high volcano model. There are numerous models of architectural and natural attractions, scenes of carnival and Christmas celebration, and miniatures depicting the rural life of indigenous people. The park welcomes guests daily from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.

Castillo de San Miguel

The castle was built for tourists. The atmosphere gives the guests a glimpse on how people lived here in the Middle Ages. Walk around the armory and see fights of the Round Table knights. Be sure to visit the ball and enjoy a hearty dinner cooked in the best traditions of those times.

• In Tenerife, cards are accepted everywhere except for public transport and markets. Local banks charge a commission for currency exchange, so it would be better to buy euros in advance in order to save money. We recommend you to have some cash in small bills of 10-20 euros (sellers do not always have change). 
• Many shops close for siesta from 1 PM to 5 PM. On Sundays, they are open until 3 PM only.
• Tenerife is a special economic zone: many goods are much cheaper here than in mainland Spain. The largest shopping centres are located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife: Alcampo la Villa Shopping Center, El Corte Inglés, and Centro Comercial Meridiano are the most popular ones. Sales happen twice a year (in early winter and in mid-summer the discounts can reach 60-70%).
• Be sure to buy local products as souvenirs for your family and friends. Choose such goods as natural cosmetics, volcanic wine, and palm honey. Cigars are also perfect as a souvenir. Canary tobacco is of high quality as the climate of Tenerife is excellent for its cultivation.
• For traditional Spanish delicacies, visit the main market of the island called Nuestra Señora de Africa where you will find jamon, cheese, seafood, turron, and wine. The market is open daily from 8 AM to 2 PM.
• Check out the guachinches to enjoy both local wine and traditional Canarian cuisine at affordable prices.
