Tips and tricks

  • Most restaurants and shops in Munich accept either cash or the cards of the EU banks. Make sure you have enough money for daily use.
  • Sunday is considered a day off when many shops and supermarkets are closed. However, this is the best time to visit local museums as you will only have to pay 1 euro for an entrance ticket.
  • In order to save money on visiting the city’s tourist attractions and get discounts in cafes or souvenir shops, be sure to purchase a Munich City Tour Card. It will help you to save up to 50%! An online card can be bought on the official website, and a regular one is sold at vending machines located at the airport and in tourist centres.
  • The weather in Munich is very unpredictable. For example, a sudden downpour with a thunderstorm can begin on a bright summer day. And in winter, it is often impossible to leave the house without sunglasses. Be sure to check the weather forecast before coming to Munich and bring all the necessary things with you!
  • Try the salted Pretzel, Obatzda cheese spread, potato dumplings, and the famous fried pork knuckle called Schweinshaxe. You can treat yourself to these delicious Bavarian specialties in the Augustiner Klosterwirt Restaurant. As for sausages, pork knuckle, and beer, it would be better to visit the Haxnbauer Restaurant.
